About the 2025 Flir App Development Challenge
This is a call to all Android App Developers worldwide to create compelling mobile apps using the Flir ACE platform and compete for exciting prizes. Your Android apps can now harness the power of thermal imaging to give users a Sixth Sense by integrating thermal data and images from Flir thermal cameras.

Develop for the Flir ACE platform
The 2025 Flir App Development Challenge isn’t just about mobile apps — it’s about building directly into the Flir ACE platform, that powers the new iXX-Series cameras (i34, i64, i35, and i65).
These cameras work like smartphones for thermography:
-
App-powered: Your code runs directly on the camera, creating customised inspection workflows and tools.
-
Connected: With built-in LTE and cloud connectivity, apps can securely share thermal data and reports from the field — no Wi-Fi required.
-
Flexible: From guided workflows to real-time collaboration, your apps can evolve with the needs of technicians and enterprises.
By developing apps for the Flir ACE platform, you’ll be shaping how technicians around the world capture, analyse, and act on thermal data in real time.
This is your chance to code the future of thermography.

Solution Categories
Your application can address any real-world challenge using the Flir ACE platform. These Suggested Areas are meant to inspire – not restrict – your creativity.
Industrial Condition Monitoring
Mobile applications designed to enable the use of thermal imaging to ensure power keeps flowing, machines keep working, equipment lasts longer helping energy and industrial manufacturing companies avoid breakdowns that can cost thousands of dollars each minute. With a well-executed condition monitoring program, inspectors can find the initial signs of failure in machinery or electrical systems, diagnose it quickly, and complete repairs with minimal interruption (example: App to collect and annotate the temperature of electrical components and suggest actions based on trends).

Building Diagnostics and Energy Efficiency
Mobile applications to help maintain the health of a facility’s envelope or enclosure. Thermal cameras can help inspectors detect issues such as missing or defective insulation, moisture buildup, water infiltration, inefficient HVAC systems and air leaks. Documenting and reporting issues is key for this industry as they deal with insurance companies and other stakeholders (example: App to allow inspectors to collect and easily report issues to owners and insurance companies).
Wildcard
An application that doesn’t fall neatly into one of the two main categories, but still targets professional users and leverages thermal imaging in a unique and impactful way to address a clearly defined problem.
